As Arjun’s assistant, Vishal’s first position was in the movie business. After making his acting debut in the romantic thriller Chellamae, he went on to star in the commercially successful action movies Sandakozhi, Thimiru, Thaamirabharani, and Malaikottai (2004).

Following several bombings at the theatre, Vishal made the decision to launch his own production firm. Since then, he has contributed to the success of movies like Poojai (2012), Naan Sigappu Manithan (2014), and Pandiya Naadu (2013). (2014). In October 2015, Vishal was selected as the Nadigar Sangam’s General Secretary after organising a demonstration against the previous committee.
He was expelled from the group because of his criticism of the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC). Finally, in April 2017, he won the election for President of the Tamil Film Producers Council.
