Akkad Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi, a film he starred in for the first time in 1996, marked Kalyan’s entry into the acting world. His next film, Gokulamlo Seeta, was released a year after his debut. A. Karunakaran’s 1999 film Tholi Prema, in which he had a supporting role, went on to win both the National Award and six Nandi Awards.
