Vishal received his secondary education at Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School before enrolling at and graduating from Loyola College in Chennai, where he majored in visual communications.

In October of 2015, he went on the offensive against the previous committee of the Nadigar Sangam, which ultimately led to his election as general secretary. He was booted out of the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) because of the criticism he had voiced against the group. Vishal teamed up with actor-turned-filmmaker Arjun Sarja on 2001’s Vedham.
