Indian director, writer, and producer Sekhar Kammula are best known for his Telugu-language films. Sekhar was one of the people sent by the director to Cannes in 2011 to represent Indian cinema.

Sekhar went to school at St. Patrick’s High School in Secunderabad. He got his intermediate education at St. Alphonsa’s and his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology in Hyderabad, which is part of Osmania University. Later, he went to the United States to sign up for a graduate program in computer science at New Jersey. Before going to the MFA program at Howard University in Washington, D.C., he worked briefly in the IT field.
