Bobby Simha was born on November 6, 1983, in the Tamil Nadu city of Chennai. His family moved to Kodaikanal, which he now refers to as his hometown, in 1995 despite the fact that his parents and grandparents were born in Hyderabad. After graduating from a Telugu-only high school in Mopidevi, Andhra Pradesh, he enrolled at Pioneer College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore and chose to major in physics.

Simha alleged that he was duped into making the trip from Coimbatore to Chennai in order to appear on a TV show. Simha returned to Chennai after completing his education in the intention of beginning an acting career.
Instead, to make ends meet, he found employment in marketing, insurance, and business process outsourcing. He soon met fellow director Manikandan, who connected him with Karthik Subbaraj, a friend of his. Bobby Simha had opportunities to become a lead actor thanks to the success of Jigarthanda, despite the fact that most of his other films did poorly at the box office. The first movie in which he played the lead role, Urumeen, debuted in December 2015. In contrast to his other action movies, he portrayed a more sympathetic role in the coming-of-age drama Bangalore Naatkal in 2016.
