Ilavarasu Early Life

In 1964, Ilavarasu was born in the Melur neighbourhood of Madurai. Growing up, he went by Ilavarasan, but his movie-going friends started calling him Ilavarasu, and that stuck. He rose to fame as a cinematographer in 1996 as a result of the Prabhu and Madhubala-starring movie Panchalankurichi. In 1997, Chithra Lakshmanan, a now-famous producer and character artist, offered to direct a Periya Thambi movie for Prabhu.

Ilavarasu Career

Ilavarasu directed the films Iniyavalae and Ninaithen Vandhai in 1998. He received awards for Best Cinematographer from the Tamil Nadu government in 1999 for the two movies he worked on.

The two movies that won gold were Veeranadai and Manam Virumbudhae Unnai. His resume as a cinematographer also includes the movies Sabash and Aezhayin Sirippil. On a total of 13 movies, Ilavarasu has worked as the cinematographer. He made his acting debut in a Bharathiraja-directed movie. He took on the character of a photographer for the movie. Ilavarasu first assisted renowned cinematographer B. Kannan, who has filmed most of Bharathiraja’s movies, after working with stills photographer Ravi. Ilavarasu has pushed into the spotlight thanks to the success of Cheran’s movie Porkalam, in which he starred. The list of potential enemies was initially longer. He reduced his involvement in those villain parts and began to play characters.

He has become well-known in Tamil cinema because to his humorous parts in movies like Chennai 28 and Imsai Arasan 23 aam Pulikesi. He now serves as the father figure for the most adored protagonists and antagonists of the program. Ilavarasu has performed as an actor in movies in the Malayalam, Oriya, and Kannada languages.
