He attended Govt High School in Vallanadu to complete his secondary schooling and Jammu University in Jammu to earn his degree. The son of Delhi Ganesh is known as Mahadevan Ganesh, and his bride is Thankom Ganesan. Following graduation, he served from 1964 to 1974 in the Indian Air Force. He eventually left his job as a result of his passion for the film business. After that, he spent some time working with the Delhi-based theatre company Dakshina Bharata Nataka Sabha.

In the span of three decades, he completed more than 400 films. He frequently performs supporting roles in movies like Apporva Sagodharargal, such as those of dads, comedians, or renowned villains.

Ganesh played the lead role in the 1981 film Engamma Maharani, which Balachander introduced him to as part of the Tamil film industry. He has played villains in films like Apoorva Sagodharargal, but his most well-known roles were as a comic or a supporting actor.
