Balaji explained in a 2013 interview with The Hindu that he moved around Chennai 24 times as a child and attended 11 different schools because his “mother just cannot stay in one place.” He enrolled at the Amrita School of Communication in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, to finish his journalism master’s degree.

Balaji was born on June 20 and spent his formative years in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His younger brother, three sisters, and two younger children are all under the age of ten. He is the oldest of four children. He claimed that his father eventually just got up and left the household.

He wants to work as a journalist but is now unable to do so for a variety of reasons. He came across a radio station’s ad while reading through the newspaper; he applied for the role of RJ and was eventually hired.

RJ Balaji started off as an actor by lending his voice to the 2013 movie Puthagam.
