She graduated with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the Jaypee Institute of Information Technology in Noida, Uttar Pradesh after attending the Delhi Public School in R.K. Puram.

On July 27, 1990, Kriti was born in New Delhi, India. Despite not having a background in film, she is an excellent actress. Since she was a young child, she has been interested in theatre, and she has always known that she wants to be an actress. Her sister, Nupur Sanon, took pictures and submitted them to an online competition on her behalf while she was away at college. She fortunately won the online competition, and as a result, she now has a free portfolio from renowned Indian photographer Dabboo Ratnani. In addition, she committed to a one-year contract with a renowned modelling agency.

She began her career as a model, walking the runway at events like the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in 2010 and the Chennai International Fashion Week in 2012, among others.
She played Sameera opposite Mahesh Babu in the Telugu movie 1: Nenokkadine in 2014, which launched her career. In the same-year released Hindi film Heropanti, she played the pivotal role of Dimpy opposite Tiger Shroff. The movie was praised by viewers as being excellent. She won several awards for her work in the movie, including the Arab Indo Bollywood Award for Most Promising Debut – Female, the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, the International Indian Film Academy Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female, and the BIG Star Entertainment Award for Most Entertaining Actor – Female.
She co-starred in the 2015 box office smash Dilwale alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Varun Dhawan.
