Since Jeet Gannguly and Pritam were friends of Sanjay Gadhvi, he hired them to compose the music for his movie Tere Liye. Gadhvi directed the Yash Raj Films production Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai in 2002, and the Gannguly-Pritam duo created the music. Following their breakup, Jeet continued to write Hindi and Bengali music for films, TV shows, and commercials. Additionally, Jeet Ganguly composed the music for a Bengali or Hindi song performed by a well-known vocalist.
He scored even more box office success after winning the best music director award for the movies Aashiqui 2 and Citylights. The 2013 Bollywood box office phenomenon “Aashiqui 2” earned composer Jeet the Filmfare Award for a best music director for his contribution to the score. Most of the popular songs on the soundtrack are from this movie.
