His friends advised him to pursue music instead of getting an MBA after he graduated from Mumbai’s Poddar College with a degree in commerce.
Clinton Cerejo Early Life
Clinton Cerejo was raised in a highly educated household without any evident musical training. His father worked as an engineer at L&T, and his mother teaches French. His sister edits medical journals in the US, while his older sibling works in the software industry.
When he was younger, influential producers were Quincy Jones, Trevor Horn, Arif Mardin, Stevie Wonder, Babyface, Hugh Padgham, Peter Gabriel, Roland Orzabal, and Roy Thomas Baker.
Dominique Cerejo, a former classmate of Clinton’s and now-famous singing partner, was married.
Clinton Cerejo Career
He regularly met up with his friend Siddharth Haldipur for jam sessions when they were in college. Amar Haldipur, a well-known violinist and arranger, heard Siddharth’s father, Siddharth, at one of these practises and was impressed by his son’s talent. As a result of Amar’s introduction to Anand Modak, the Marathi film Mukta’s music director, Clinton’s first studio recording session was scheduled. It was a Marathi movie with an English song featuring an African American.
He began lending his voice to a variety of commercials after a few haphazard recordings. He worked with a number of people during this time, including Louis Banks, Ranjit Barot, Lezz Lewis, and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. At the time, Kunal Ganjawala and KK, two future playback singers, were his contemporaries. Clinton and Kunal sang many commercial jingles together.
He looked into other options after realizing that his voice wasn’t adaptable enough for jingle singing.
When the two finally met a month later, A. R. Rahman, who was working in a nearby studio, overheard one of Clinton’s vocal arrangements for a song and offered Clinton a job. Very quickly, other people began to take notice of his work, which resulted in a flurry of additional commissions.
As his career in the music business advanced, Clinton began working in various capacities with a number of well-known Indian composers. He then provided the Coke studio with a number of original compositions. One of the most well-known songs is Madari, performed by Vishal Dadlani and Sonu Kakkar.
