Raghubir Yadav received his education at the Laxmi Narayan Yadav Higher Secondary School in Ranchi, Jabalpur. He then attended the National School of Drama in New Delhi to earn a master’s degree in theater.

Raghubir Yadav Early Life

Yadav has performed in more than 70 plays and over 2500 performances with the Parsi Theatre Company while travelling by caravan, living in tents, and using makeshift stages throughout Indian villages, towns, and cities. From 1973 to 1974, he gave glove puppet performances at the Rangoli Puppet Theatre in Lucknow. Between 1977 and 1986, he participated in nearly 2000 performances at the National School of Drama Repertory, acting in about 40 plays. He has also helped with the sets, music, costumes, and masks.

He had numerous significant film appearances in the ensuing decades. He has appeared in Salaam Bombay!, Water, and Lagaan, three films that are up for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Raghubir Yadav is one of the select few Indian actors who have won the Silver Peacock Best Actor Prize at the International Film Festival of India. His most well-known role was the drug-addicted “Chillum” in Salaam Bombay (1988). He gave a performance there.

He starred in the 2011 film Dear Friend Hitler, which takes its name from two letters Mahatma Gandhi wrote to Adolf Hitler in 1939, just before World War II was about to start, and on Christmas Eve 1940, after it had already started, urging him to start and end the conflict.
