He was born in Punjab, India, where a family of Punjabis had relocated after India was split into two nations. His father had a garage in Delhi. Manoj’s father was from Pakistan, while his mother was from Uttar Pradesh. Manoj has a younger brother in addition to two sisters named Sunita Gupta and Rekha Pathak. In the theatre, Manoj Pahwa started his professional acting career. He used to play the role of “Lakshman” in the Ramleela that was played in his neighbourhood. Additionally, he has participated in a number of Mandi House, Sambhav Group, All India Radio, and Doordarshan shows as a theatrical artist.
After having two children, he moved his family from Delhi to Mumbai so that he could pursue his acting career. In 1984, he costarred with his wife Seema Pahwa in the renowned Hindi TV series “Hum Log,” making his acting debut. His well-known Hindi TV shows include “Shanti,” which debuted in 1995, “Just Mohabbat,” “Sab Golmaal Hai,” “Gudgudee,” which debuted in 1998, “Office Office,” which debuted in 2001, and “A Suitable Boy” (2020).
He makes his Hindi acting debut in Tere Mere Sapne (1996). Dhamaal (2007), Singh is King (2008), Ready (2011), Mausam (2011), Dabangg 2 (2012), Jolly LLB (2013), Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), Mulk (2018), and Article 15 are some of his most well-known Hindi movies. He’s performed in humorous and adversarial parts (2019).
While he was filming the Bollywood film “Mausam” (2011) in Chandigarh, he met Punjabi film producers, and they hired him for the Punjabi film “Heer & Hero” (2013).
