Anurag Kashyap Early Life
Anurag Kashyap will be 50 years old by the year 2022. He was born in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, on September 10, 1972. The Chief Engineer for the UP Power Corporation was Prakash Singh Sr.
One of his ambitions was to become a scientist. He obtained a zoology degree from college in 1993. Following graduation from college, he started a career in street theatre. When he touched down in Mumbai in 1993, he had Rs. 5,000. After running out of money, he spent some time going without food and shelter and sleeping on beaches. He would occasionally stay the night in St. Xavier’s Boys’ Hostel. Even though he was able to land a job at Prithvi Theatre, his premiere play remained unfinished due to the director’s unexpected passing.

Anurag Kashyap Career
In 1995, he met a man by the name of Pankaj Titoria. Pankaj Titoria introduced him to the film editor and director Shivam Nair. Kashyap was enthralled by “Taxi Driver” when he saw it at Shivam Nair’s place. He wrote the screenplay for Hansal Mehta’s 1997 first feature film, “Jayate,” which was never released. In 1998, actor Manoj Bajpaye suggested that Ram Gopal Verma use his name in a screenplay.
In the end, it was Ram Gopal Verma who hired him because of his work on “Auto Narayan.” He collaborated with Saurabh Shukla to write the screenplay for the movie Satya during this time. The box office success of the film Satya led to it being hailed as one of the greatest works of Indian cinema ever made. He wrote the dialogue for “Shool” and the script for “Kaun” in 1999. In that same year, he also worked on the “Last Train to Mahakali” TV short.
“Paanch,” Kashyap’s first feature film, was released in 2002. The 1976 Joshi-Abhyankar gang murders in succession served as the basis for the movie. The Central Board of Film Review initially had reservations with the movie. Kashyap wrote dialogue for numerous movies, including Paisa Vasool (2004), Yuva (2004) (a Canadian film), Water (2005), Main Aisa Hi Hoon (2005), etc. Paanch, however, received approval from the board later, and it made its debut in 2002 at a number of film festivals. Hussain Zaidi’s book of the same name, which addressed the 1993 Bombay Bombings, served as the source of inspiration for his work on the 2007 movie “Black Friday.”
The Bombay High Court, however, temporarily blocked its dissemination while it awaited the conclusion of the bomb blast probe. The same year, “No Smoking,” a reworking of Stephen King’s short tale “Quitters,” was published. In 2009, he established Anurag Kashyap Films, his own production company. His feature directorial debut was “Udaan,” which received widespread acclaim. A few of the movies Kashyap has made include Shaitan (2011), Chittagong (2012), Aiyyaa (2012), etc. He co-wrote and directed the 2011 film “That Girl in Yellow Boots” with Kalki Koechlin. A number of significant international film festivals featured the movie. Well-known American cinema critic Roger Ebert gave it 3.5 out of 4 stars. The 2012 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight saw the world premiere of Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, which also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and the London Indian Film Festival.
It’s no secret that Anurag Kashyap is a skilled actor; he’s appeared in a number of movies as a guest star, including Happy New Year, Tera Kya Hoga Johnny, Dev.D, Gulaal, and Black Friday (2007). He acted as a policeman in the 2010 movie Encounter. He plays a villain in the Tigmanshu Dhulia-directed movie “Shagird” from 2011.
