Shashank Khaitan Biography

Shashank Khaitan Education

St. Xavier’s High School in Pune served as Shashank Khaitan’s primary educational institution until he graduated from the University of Pune.

Shashank Khaitan Early Life

Khaitan spent his early years in Nashik, Maharashtra, where he completed high school, despite the fact that his parents were born in Kolkata. He has always loved movies, but at first he was more interested in sports, especially cricket and tennis. At the age of just 17, he decided to go into the entertainment business. He first rose to fame as a dancing instructor and event host who travelled the country. He felt optimistic that his objectives in Mumbai might be attained.

Khaitan enrolled at Whistling Woods International Institute with a desire to enter the film industry. He claims that the institute gave him the technical training he needed, and that the instructors—many of whom are active members of the film industry—made him feel at ease on the set by frequently encouraging students to accompany them. With the aid of some of his peers, Khaitan’s debut film, Sherwani Kahaan Hai, was partially shot at Whistling Woods, but the endeavour ultimately failed.

In 2008, Khaitan worked as a production assistant on Subhash Ghai’s Black & White and Yuvvraaj as well as playing Manohar in Arundhati Sen Verma’s Roorkee By-Pass. He played a small role as a judge at the World Dance Championship preliminary round in Bengaluru in the Disney dance drama ABCD 2 starring Varun Dhawan.
Prior to that, he was in Habib Faisal’s romantic action drama Ishaqzaade, produced by Yash Raj Films and starring Arjun Kapoor. Khaitan played Dharma Chauhan, one of Kapoor’s portrayals of Parma Chauhan’s brothers.

Shashank Khaitan Career

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was initially supposed to be about a pair of con artists in the vein of Bunty Aur Babli. But as he wrote on, he realised that his characters were more endearing and charming than he had anticipated. Khaitan attributes the story’s inspiration to DDLJ and Casablanca, and the movie itself pays reference to both of those works as well as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Khaitan made an effort to develop more approachable and realistic people while yet conveying an epic romance in order to support his claim that Bollywood hasn’t produced a great love tale since Jab We Met. He justifies the movie by claiming that the fact that it recycles certain worn-out Bollywood clichés, such as parental approval, demonstrates how little Indian society has changed since the release of DDLJ.

After finishing the first draught, Khaitan handed his script—then titled Humpty Sharma Di Love Story—off to Dharma Productions. Following his enthusiastic response to the script, Karan Johar declared that Dharma Productions will produce the film but added the qualifier that he wasn’t sure if Khaitan would serve as the director. Johar gave Khaitan the green light to helm the film after he made a few script revisions.

The majority of directors at Dharma in the past had been promoted from inside; in this instance, however, all of them had been assistants. Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt were chosen by director Khaitan for his movie after seeing them in Student of the Year. Khaitan insisted that everyone working on the project “keep it real” and be ready for each moment before it was recorded. The movie performed admirably at the box office following its July 2014 release.
