Vikas Bahl Biography

Vikas Bahl Education

He went to Ramjas College and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Delhi before moving to Mumbai to enrol in SVKM’s NMIMS for an MBA.

Vikas Bahl Early Life

Bahl was reared by his father, an Indian Oil Corporation employee, in the Lajpat Nagar neighborhood of Delhi.

In an interview with Huffington Post India that was published in October 2018, a former Phantom Films employee accused Bahl of sexual harassment during the production of the 2014 movie Queen. Kangana Ranaut, who plays the protagonist in the movie, later joined the former employee in accusing Bahl of sexual assault. Then, Ranaut’s co-star in the movie Nayani Dixit levelled same accusations against Bahl.

Phantom announced its shutdown on October 5, 2018, due to a sexual assault allegation filed against Bahl by another former employee. The other three founders, Kashyap, Motwane, and Mantena, have all posted statements on Twitter confirming the company’s dissolution and the move to individual ventures. Following the breakup of Phantom Films, co-founders Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane publicly denounced Bahl’s sexual misbehaviour. Bahl responded by giving them legal notices and accusing them of defaming him with their statements.

Vikas Bahl Career

He used to be the director of UTV Spot Boy, and now he works as a Phantom Films producer. He has currently won one Filmfare Award and three National Film Awards. Lajpat Nagar in Delhi is home to Bahl. His dad worked for the Indian Oil Company all his life. He graduated from Ramjas College in Delhi. His next stop was Mumbai’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, where he completed his master’s in business administration (NMIMS).

Marketing was Vikas Bahl’s initial line of work. Before joining UTV Spotboy, he worked in customer service for many years. He launched Phantom Films in 2011 with Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya, and others. He has worked with people like Vishal Bhardwaj, Anurag Kashyap, Rajkumar Gupta, and Vikramaditya Motwane to polish his art as a filmmaker.

For his efforts on the movie “Chillar Party,” which he co-directed, he and Nitesh Tiwari shared the “National Film Award for Best Screenplay” that year. The movie also took home the National Film Awards’ prize for best kid’s movie. His first picture, “Queen,” which he also starred in, was a box office sensation in 2014. Currently, Bahl is filming Shaandar, a movie with a wedding theme. In this story, an Indian family moves to Europe.

In October 2014, he directed a brief movie about women’s safety on the streets. “Going Home” was the name of the film starring Alia Bhatt. His short film’s online success propelled him to the top of the filmmaking world. His 2014 independent film Queen, which starred Kangana Ranaut, was both a financial and critical triumph.

The 2015 movie Shaandar, starring Bahl and about a couple organising their wedding in a tropical location, failed and received negative reviews. He helmed the short Going Home in October 2014, which starred Alia Bhatt and was about women’s safety. The following year, Bahl produced Super 30, which starred Hrithik Roshan as the math teacher and IIT-JEE expert Anand Kumar.

The first instalment of Tiger Shroff’s action franchise, named Ganapath – Part 1, is expected to be directed by Bahl and produced by Jackky Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment and Bahl’s own production firm, Good Co. It is scheduled to be released in January 2022.
