He received his education at St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School in Delhi. From 2001 to 2004, he attended St. Stephen’s College in Delhi. He later finished a cinematography course at Vancouver Film School in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

On Saturday, January 1, 1983, in New Delhi, Shakun Batra was born. His father has a business that sells mosquito-repellent equipment. His mother is a kind doctor. Shakun has a brother in addition to a sister. His brother, Shubham Batra, is an architect. In 2013, there were allegations that Shakun was seeing Indian director Sonam Nair.
Shakun Batra Career
In his childhood, he developed a love for photography and started to pursue a profession as a wildlife photographer. After finishing a cinematography course, he started working as an assistant to a few Indian directors in Mumbai, including Errol Morris and Christopher Wilcha. He has worked with several Indian production companies, such as Equinox Films, Excel Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., and Dharma Productions, on various projects. With the 2012 Hindi film “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu,” which starred Kareena Kapoor and Emran Khan in the lead roles, he made his directorial and writing debuts.
He resumed his career as director and writer on the 2016 wildly popular Hindi film Kapoor & Sons after a nearly four-year sabbatical. In 2022, he made a contribution to the Hindi documentary “Searching for Sheela” as an author, director, and executive producer. The Shakun-directed film “Gehraiyaan” became a part of Amazon Prime in 2022. He also worked on the film as a producer and writer. Besides movies, has directed a few TV advertisements for Nestle, Head & Shoulders, and Google.
