Before completing his education in Chandigarh, Kirron attended school in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. She graduated with a degree in Indian theatre from Chandigarh’s Panjab University.

Kirron Kher Early Life

Kiran Thakar Singh Sandhu made his debut in front of the world on June 14, 1952, in Bangalore, Mysore State, India. Sikhs from the Punjabi Jatt clan known as the Sandhu were born and raised in Chandigarh. While she was first married to Gautam Berry, she went by the name “Kiran Berry.” After getting married to Anupam Kher, she went back to using her maiden name, but she now goes by “Kiran Thakar Singh Kher.” She developed a strong belief in numerology later in life, which inspired her to legally change her name from “Kiran” to “Kirron” using numerological calculations, drop her maiden name, and take the name “Kirron Kher.”

Kirron Kher made her cinematic debut in the 1983 Punjabi movie Aasra Pyar Da, although she didn’t work in the business again until 1996. Between 1983 and 1996, she only made one movie appearance with her second husband Anupam Kher, Pestonjee (1987).

In the middle of the 1990s, Javed Siddiqui and Feroz Abbas Khan’s play Saalgirah marked the start of her comeback to the stage. She then hosted three television programmes, beginning with the brief Purushkshetra on Zee TV, which gained notoriety for being the first programme to openly discuss alternative sexuality while also emphasising women’s issues.

Kiron Kher appeared on Today and Jagte Raho before to appearing in Hindi movies.

Sardari Begum, directed by Shyam Benegal, was her comeback movie. It earned her the Special Jury Award at the 1997 National Film Awards. She then made a critically acclaimed appearance in Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh’s 1999 film Bariwali. When she received the National Film Award for Best Actress for the movie, there was some controversy because Rita Koiral, a Bangla film actress, claimed that she was dubbed for the role of Kirron and therefore had a right to the award as well. Kirron denied the allegations, saying she spent hours practising how to deliver dialogue, and the prize was ultimately not given to her.
