She graduated from the Indian School in Bahrain, where she had studied up until 2002. She joined at Mount Carmel College in Bangalore with plans to complete her undergraduate studies there.

Mamatha Mohandas Early Life

On November 14, 1984, Mamtha Mohandas was born to Mohandas and Ganga, two Malayalis with roots in Kannur. She starred in print advertisements for IBM and Kalyan Kendra and walked the runway for the Mysore Maharajah and Raymonds. Mamtha excels at both Hindustani and Karnatic music.

Mamtha and Bahrain-based businessman Prajith Padmanabhan got engaged on November 11, 2011. On December 28, 2011, in Kozhikode, they exchanged vows. The couple filed for divorce on December 12th, 2012. After a struggle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma that started in 2010, Mamtha overcame cancer. In April 2013, she experienced a relapse of her illness, and she once more underwent treatment.

Mamatha Mohandas Career

Mamtha initially makes an appearance in Hariharan’s 2005 film Mayookham. She was praised for her subtle portrayal as Indira despite the film’s dismal box office success. Since then, she has been alongside Mammootty in the film Bus Conductor, Suresh Gopi in the films Adbutham (2006) and Lanka (2006), and Jayaram in the film Madhuchandralekha (2006). She co-starred as the film’s female lead in Baba Kalyani alongside Mohanlal. Later that year, in the mediocre box office hit Sivappathigaram directed by Karu Pazhaniappan, she made her acting debut opposite Vishal.

In the 2007 movie Big B, she appeared with Mammootty. With SS Rajamouli’s Yamadonga, in which she had a supporting role, she made her film debut in Telugu. This film was a huge hit at the box office, one of the best of the year. She contributed her singing voice to the soundtrack of the movie as well. In 2008, she appeared in seven films, all of which were Telugu productions. She made her film debut in the Kannada film Gooli. Later, she starred as the leading lady in the critically panned movie Krishnarjuna. She made a cameo appearance opposite Rajinikanth in her sole Tamil release of that year, Kuselan, after her next lead role in Victory’s box office flop.

Mamtha acted in three other Telugu movies, including King and Homam, both directed by Srinu Vaitla and starring Nagarjuna. She provided playback vocals for numerous tracks in both of these films. She co-starred in two films in 2009: Guru En Aalu, a comedy starring Madhavan, and Passenger, a thriller starring Dileep and Sreenivasan. One did fine at the box office, while the other became a Malayalam sleeper hit. In the movie Passenger, Mamtha played a television reporter, which marked a turning point in her career.

She was given a key role in the 2009 Telugu dark fantasy Arundathi. She declined the part, and the movie went on to become a box office hit. She co-starred with Jayaram in the 2010 film Kadha Thudarunnu directed by Sathyan Anthikkad, for which she won her first Filmfare Best Actress Award. For this movie, she won the Mathrubhumi Award and the Asianet Award for Best Actress in Malayalam, as well as the Vanitha Award for Best Actress in Malayalam. Prithiviraj and Rahman have also worked together on the films Kedi with Nagarjuna and Anwar with Rahman. Mamtha made her acting debut in the 2011 Malayalam film Race as Niya, the wife of cardiac surgeon Abey (Kunchacko Boban).

In theatres, the movie did poorly. Her subsequent Malayalam cinema debut was in Naayika. Her third Tamil film, Thadaiyara Thaakka, was helmed by Magizh Thirumeni and featured her. She appeared with Indrajith in the 2013 movie Paisa Paisa. She made her acting debut in the 2014 movie To Noora with Love as a Muslim woman. With Varsham, directed by Ranjith Shankar and starring Mammootty, she made a comeback to Malayalam movies. She collaborated with Dileep once more on Two Countries following the box office triumph of My Boss. She co-starred in the 2016 film Thoppil Joppan with Mammootty, and she will next be seen with Biju Menon in Baby Sitter.

Early in 2017, she agreed to the anthology movie Crossroad, in which she plays a devout Muslim. She played a significant cameo in Udaharanam Sujatha in addition to her role opposite Manju Warrier. She agreed to star in Detroit Crossing/Ranam with Prithviraj in the middle of 2017, but she ultimately had to back out because she ran out of days. She co-starred in the upcoming crime drama Forensic alongside Tovino Thomas as ACP Rithika Xavier IPS of Thiruvananthapuram, a part Mamtha will play.
