Dileesh Pothan Wiki and Biography: Dileesh Philip (born February 19, 1980) is a Malayalam cinema director, actor, and producer. He also goes by the stage name Dileesh Pothan. Maheshinte Prathikaaram, a comedy-drama with Fahadh Faasil, was his debut effort as a director (2016). The film won the award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam at the 64th Annual National Film Awards. Pothan also received the best director award at the 64th Filmfare Awards South.

Dileesh Pothan Education
He went to Emmanuel’s in Kothanalloor for high school. He completed his prerequisite coursework at Mannanam’s Kuriakose Elias College before transferring to Mysore’s St. Philomena’s College to complete his BSc. He pursued advanced degrees in the theatre and film because he was passionate about them, first receiving an M.A. in theatre arts from Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, and then an M.Phil. in theatre arts from Mahatma Gandhi University.

Dileesh Pothan Career
Pothan’s first position in the business was as an assistant director on the set of the 2010 movie 9 KK Road. He was the person Aashiq Abu turned to when he needed a helper, and he ended up working with Aashiq on five of his films. He made his playing debut as a film director in Aashiq Abu’s 2011 film Salt N’ Pepper. With the comedy-drama Maheshinte Prathikaaram, in which Fahadh Faasil appeared, he made his directing debut in 2016. This movie won the award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam at the 64th Annual National Film Awards. Pothan also received the best director award at the 64th Filmfare Awards South. Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, his second film under his direction, was a critical and commercial success in 2017. Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum also won the 65th Annual National Film Awards’ prize for Best Feature Film in Malayalam.
Pothan went on to direct several short films after serving as an assistant director on the movie 9 KK Road (2010). He then became an assistant director on Aashiq Abu’s staff. He served as an assistant on Aashiq Abu’s films Gangster (2012), Da Thadiya (2012), and 22 Female Kottayam (2014). He has acted in supporting roles in several Aashiq Abu movies, including Salt N’ Pepper (2011), 22 Female Kottayam (2012), Idukki Gold (2013), Gangster (2014), Iyobinte Pusthakam (2014), and Rani Padmini (2015). He served as the chief assistant director for the 2014 film Tamaar Padaar, which he co-directed with Dileesh Nair.
He made his movie debut in Lal Jose’s Chandranudikunna Dikkil (1999), a film that served as his introduction to the business. Later, he landed his first significant acting role in Salt N’ Pepper. He will have appeared in more than 50 movies by the year 2020. Critics appreciated the 2019 movie Kumbalangi Nights, which Dileesh co-produced.
