Story:
Pippa is a fictitious tale of the lives of three siblings set against the dramatic 48-hour Battle of Garibpur, which occurred on India’s eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. It was inspired by actual events and Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta’s war memoir The Burning Chaffees.
The name Pippa is derived from the potent amphibious Russian army tank PT-76. “Pippa” is the endearing name given to an empty “ghee da dabba” that gracefully floats over water in Punjabi.
The movie follows a young Mehta as he matures and takes charge of his armored tank squadron and, consequently, Independent India. During the historic voyage, Captain Mehta rises to the occasion and inspires his men to victory while guiding the Indian people.
