Movie Verdict

Boxing movies are very popular in Telugu. There are a few good ones, like Srihari’s Badhrachalam and Pawan Kalyan’s Thammudu. After a long time, Puri Jagannadh decided to make a movie about boxing. The story begins with a typical Puri Jagannadh action scene, and then it moves to Mumbai, where Balamani and Liger have some drama. But after a while, the drama gets boring, because Puri

The first half was good but not very interesting. It seems like Puri Jagannadh crammed all the drama and love story into the first half so that he could spend the whole second half on boxing sequences and Myke Tyson scenes. However, this seems to have backfired because the core emotion didn’t land well in the first half, which hurt the second half as well.

Vijay is good as Liger because he shines so well in most of the scenes with his stammering, but he failed to show a few core emotions. Still, we should appreciate how he changed to look like a boxer. Ananya Pandey has no room to act. Ramya Krishna is brilliant as Balamani. Her body language, dialogue delivery, and every little nuance added so much to the character. Ronit Roy, Vishu Reddy, Ali, Makarand

Puri Jagannadh is known for his direction, the way he writes his heroes, and the way he writes their lines. We can see Puri’s touch in this movie, but not as much as in his other movies. This time, he focused more on the story than on the hero.

Technically, Liger looks great, and we can see every penny in every frame. Vishnu Sarma’s cinematography is good, and different musicians from Bollywood worked on the film’s background score, which was supervised by Azeem Dayani. The songs aren’t great, but the background score is good, and the rest of the technical departments did their best.

Lastly, Liger is an interesting boxing drama that can be watched by anyone, and for fans of Vijay Devarakonda, it’s a feast for the eyes.
