Manjunatha Rao and Anusuya gave birth to Pendra Rao in the Indian town of Kundapura in the Udupi district of Mysore (now Karnataka). He was the youngest son in the family, having an older sibling by the name of Sudheendra Rao. The Rao family had a modest income. He frequently rolls his eyes in his films as a result of an eye ailment he had as a baby.
He attended the APS College of Commerce in Bangalore, India, and received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from there. He and his friends would form “troops” and participate in plays when they were in college. He started working with actor and director Kashinath, who was also one of his distant parents and later played a crucial part in the actor’s film career, during his final year of college.
Upendra was born in Koteshwara, a village close to Kundapura in the Udupi district of Karnataka. On December 14, 2003, Uppi wed Priyanka Trivedi, an actress who had previously acted in the Hindi film H2O and the Telugu film Raa. Locals from Bangalore, Upendra and his family reside in the Banashankari III Stadium.
