Aditi Rao Hydari Biography

Aditi Rao Hydari Education

She graduated from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi, after attending the A Krishnamurthy Foundation India School and earning her diploma.

Aditi Rao Hydari Early Life

Aditi Rao Hydari is the offspring of renowned classical vocalist Ehsaan Hydari and Vidya Rao, who is well-known for her dadra and thumri-styled compositions. Her Buddhist Chitrapur Saraswat mother from Mangalore, who is also half-Telugu, raised her after the death of her Bohri Muslim father in 2013. Hydari’s ancestry is hence Bohri, Chitrapur Saraswat, and Telugu.

Hydari is descended from the dynasties of Raja J. Rameshwar Rao, the erstwhile Raja of Wanaparthy, and Sir Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari. She is the great-granddaughter of Akbar Hydari, the previous prime minister of Hyderabad state, and Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, who served as governor of Assam (colonial India).
Aditi is the granddaughter of Shanta Rameshwar Rao, a well-known teacher in Hyderabad who founded the Vidyaranya school and currently serves as the chairman of the publishing company Orient Blackswan. During colonial India, Raja J Rameshwar Rao served as the governor of the state of Wanaparthi. Director Kiran Rao, who once wed actor Aamir Khan, is her maternal first cousin. Hydari’s parents had already made the decision to separate when she was two years old.

She was brought up by a mother who moved the family business from Hyderabad to New Delhi. While her father remarried and had no more children, her mother continued to raise her as a single parent. The youthful Hydari spent her formative years in both Hyderabad and New Delhi in India. She started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of six under the instruction of legendary dancer Leela Samson. Hydari adopts both her parents’ last names. She continued, ” “My father is an essential part of who I am, even if my mother is the one who takes care of me the most. I made the decision to maintain Hydari and Rao together because of the name’s uniqueness.”
