Verdict
As the title of this film implies it features more action scenes with a straightforward plot built in a distinct premise, involving a movie star who becomes entangled in a murder mystery and attempts to flee from it. The movie’s trailer gave away a lot of plot details and made it plain to viewers how the tale will develop. Even if most of the film is predictable, the excitement is kept up by a few intense performances by the principal characters. Ayushmann Khurrana, who prefers to watch movies with meaningful themes, entered the action genre with Anek, therefore it will be interesting to see him in a movie with a purely commercial agenda. The film as a whole features many engaging moments and action sequences that will excite the audience, but there are only a few twists and turns that will lead to the climax, which concludes simply without any high note.
Ayushmann Khurrana’s acting is routine on screen with expressions that are similar to those in his prior films, which is pleasant to see in such commercial films. With his performance, Jaideep Ahlawat is the star of this film. Jaideep has a distinctive acting style; he can easily handle any type of character that is presented to him and add humour with his body language and straightforward lines. All additional performers performed as needed for the plot.
An Action Hero looks good technically. Although the songs by Parag Chhabra, Tanishk Baghchi, Biddu, Amar Jalal, and Faridkot are just passable, Sunny M.R.’s background music gives the scenes the necessary adrenaline. Kaushal Shah’s cinematography is strong, particularly during the action scenes, and he was successful in capturing some unusual London sites. Another benefit of the movie is the action choreography by Stunt Silva (India) and Ian Van Temperly (UK). High production values. A few drawn-out scenes may have been cut by editor Ninad Khanolkar.
Anirudh Iyer, who directed this film, previously served as an associate and assistant director for a number of movies. Despite being a first-time director, he developed a straightforward plot with a novel premise and additional excitement. Despite a few imperfections, he was able to enthrall the audience with his making technique.
Overall, “An Action Hero” is an engaging and exciting action-packed movie that is currently playing in theatres.
