Kannur, in the Indian state of Kerala, is where Ashish Vidyarthi was born on June 19, 1960. His mother Reba Vidyarthi was a Bengali dancer, and his father Govind Vidyarthi was from Malayali. While attending the Mehta Vidyalaya school within the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Ashish was lauded for his comedic and dramatic performances. He attended and triumphantly finished his studies in History at Hindu College.

Ashish Vidyarthi, a veteran of the Indian film industry, received the award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Drohkaal. The film Anand (1986) marked the beginning of the actor’s successful career, and he immediately became known for both his serious and comedic roles.

Following that, he had a role in Hijack. Starring alongside Ajay Devgan and Juhi Chawla in the 1995 film Naajayaz, Ashish delivered a great performance. In the same year, he also acted alongside Aamir Khan and Mamta Kulkarni in the blockbuster film Baazi.

When the Bengali film Shesh Thikana was released in 2000, it marked Ashish’s entry into the film industry. In same year, with the publication of Nightfall, he made his debut as an English-language film director. Together with Dev, Subhashree Ganguly, Ferdous, and Laboni Sarkar, Ashish delivered a stellar performance in the 2012 smash hit film Khokababu. Then he starred in the box office smash ‘Awara,’ opposite Jeet and Sayantika Banerjee, which grossed over $100 million around the world. Ashish’s second critically acclaimed film, “Challenge 2,” features Dev and Pooja Bose.

He starred in the 2014 box office hit Bachchan alongside Jeet and Payel Sarkar. Next, in the following year, Ashish starred alongside Jeet and Koel Mallick in the Bengali film Besh Korechi Prem Korechi, which included music composed and directed by Jeet Gannguli. In the film Hero 420, he starred alongside Riya Sen, Nusrat Faria Mazhar, and Om. In the 2017 film Begum Jaan, he co-starred alongside Vidya Balan and Ila Arun.
