His early exposure to Ilaiyaraaja’s music sparked an interest in music that has continued throughout his life. Prasad’s mother enrolled him in Maestro Sri Mandolin U. Shrinivas’ singing classes when he was a young man. When he was young, his father took him to the movies and used the experience to teach him about the evolution of the moving picture industry. Even a VHS copy of the documentary The Legend Continues was a gift from his father. After seeing the movie, Prasad became a huge Michael Jackson admirer.

Devi Sri Prasad Career

Devi Sri Prasad began his career as a music composer in 1997 with the release of his first single, “Dance Party,” off of the album of the same name. With his work on the music and soundtrack for the 1999 Telugu film Devi, he made his professional composing debut. The film’s original score was so well received that he was asked to create a Tamil version. With his score for the 2001 Telugu hit Anandam, he finally found success. In the same year, with his score for Badri, he made his debut in the Tamil film music arena.

Although Prasad composed music for five films in 2002, the soundtrack CDs for three of them—”Kalusukovalani,” “Manmadhudu,” and “Sontham”—became huge hits. Composing music for Telugu films soon became a booming career. His subsequent film scores include those for the Telugu features ‘Bommarillu’ (2006), ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’ (2006), ‘Gabbar Singh’ (2013), ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ (2014), ‘Srimanthudu’ (2016), ‘S/O Satyamurthy’ (2016), ‘Nannaku Prematho’ (2017), and ‘Rangasthalam’ (2019).

Devi Sri Prasad is responsible for the music to a number of well-known Hindi films and songs, including “Dhinka Chika” from “Ready” (2011), “Aa Ante Amalapuram” from “Maximum” (2012), “Naacho Re” from “Jai Ho” (2014), and “Seeti Maar” from “Radhe” (2021).
