The much-talked-about Kannada anthology “Ekam” is finally set for a wider digital release. After remaining largely under the radar since its initial independent streaming, the makers have now officially announced that Ekam will premiere on the Zee5 OTT platform on January 09, 2026, this time as a web series format, giving the film a fresh lease of life and a broader audience.

Ekam: From Independent Release to Zee5 Premiere
A few years ago, several prominent Kannada filmmakers came together to create Ekam, an anthology film that explored diverse themes through multiple narratives. Due to unforeseen reasons, the makers chose to release the film on their own website last year. However, with minimal promotion and limited reach, the project failed to gain the attention it deserved.
Recognising the growing appetite for regional content on OTT platforms, the team has now partnered with Zee5, ensuring Ekam reaches cinephiles across India and beyond.
Ekam to Stream as a Series on Zee5
Unlike its earlier version, Ekam will now be presented as a series, making it more accessible and binge-worthy for OTT audiences. The Zee5 premiere is expected to give the anthology a stronger platform and renewed visibility among Kannada content lovers.
Star-Studded Cast of Ekam
The anthology features an impressive ensemble cast, bringing together some of the most respected and versatile talents from the Kannada film industry, including: Prakash Raj, Raj B Shetty, Shine Shetty, Manasi Sudheer, Prakash Thuminad, Shanil Guru, Mime Ramdas, Ujwal U V, Pallavi Kodagu, Champa P. Shetty, among others. Each actor plays a key role in different segments, adding depth and variety to the anthology.
Directors and Technical Crew
Produced under the banner of Journeyman Films, Ekam boasts a strong creative backbone. The anthology is directed by Sumanth Bhat, Swaroop Elamon, Sanal Aman, Sankar Gangadharan, and Vivek Vinod, with each filmmaker bringing a distinct storytelling style.
The cinematography is handled by a talented team comprising G. S. Bhaskar ISC, Udit Khurana, Ankur C, and U. Ashwin, ensuring rich visuals and a cinematic experience despite the digital format.
Why Ekam’s OTT Release Matters
With regional anthology content gaining popularity on OTT platforms, Ekam’s Zee5 release comes at the right time. The series format, strong cast, and multiple directors make it an intriguing watch for audiences looking for content-driven Kannada cinema beyond mainstream formulas.
