Gulshan Devaiah Career

Devaiah made his acting debut in the cast of Kalki Koechlin and Naseeruddin Shah’s Anurag Kashyap film That Girl in Yellow Boots. His portrayal of a neighborhood gangster by the name of Chitiappa received excellent marks from critics when the movie was screened at festivals including TIFF and Venice Film Festival. He then made an appearance in Rohan Sippy’s 2011 crime drama Dum Maaro Dum. The film, which features Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Rana Daggubati, and Prateik Babbar, is about a narcotics gang’s activities in the Indian state of Goa and starring these actors. Both fans and critics liked Devaiah’s portrayal of Ricky, although the movie as a whole was only a middling success.

Devaiah also made an appearance in Bejoy Nambiar’s thriller Shaitan from the same year, which also starred Shiv Pandit, Rajeev Khandelwal, and Kalki Koechlin. He received honours for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Best Male Debut at the Filmfare Awards, Stardust Awards, Screen Awards, Apsara Film, and Television Producers Guild Awards for his portrayal of KC (Karan Chaudhary), which was well received by critics.

Hate Story’s publication marked a new chapter in Devaiah’s career success story. In a 2012 movie with Vikram Bhatt as the producer and Vivek Agnihotri as the director, Devaiah had his first leading role. The egotistical son of a successful businessman, Siddharth Dhanrajgir, played by Devaiah, helped the movie achieve unexpected success and worldwide critical acclaim. He received mixed reviews for his subsequent film that year, Peddlers, which starred Nimrat Kaur and had its Cannes debut.

Devaiah appeared in the romantic drama Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela (2013) directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which starred Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. One of the film’s standout moments was Devaiah’s portrayal of Bhavani, a con artist who schemes to take the Rajadi clan’s throne. The film features the acting prowess of Richa Chadda, Supriya Pathak, Abhimanyu Singh, and Barkha Bisht Sengupta in minor but no less significant roles. With the adult comedy Hunterrr, which also starred Radhika Apte, Sai Tamhankar, and Vaibbhav Tatwawdi, actor Harshvardhan G. Kulkarni made a comeback to filmmaking in 2015. Positive reviews from critics accompanied the film’s success at the box office, which was largely credited to Devaiah’s portrayal of sex addict Mandar Phonkshe.

One of Devaiah’s 2016 movies is Junooniyant, with Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat as the leads. A Death in the Gunj, directed by Konkona Sen Sharma, Cabaret, produced by Pooja Bhatt, and CandyFlip, led by Shanawaz NK. This year, Gulshan has been seen in a number of movies, including Commando 3 and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. The release of his Ghost Stories album is scheduled for 2020.
