Guru Somasundaram has a deep love for theatre from his early years. Guru joined the renowned Chennai theatre group “Koothu-P-Pattarai” after completing college in 2002 to develop his acting skills and get ready for a career in acting. He joined a theatre group and performed in several of their productions. He got the attention of filmmaker Thiagarajan Kumararaja while playing the part of Chandrahari in a stage production of Chandrahari. The director was so impressed by his performance that he granted him a part in one of his upcoming films.
Guru was cast in Thiagarajan’s 2008 neo-noir film “Aaranya Kaandam” as the year went on. The phrase “Jungle Chapter” in this context refers to a passage from the epic Ramayana that served as the basis for the film.
