Imtiaz Ali was born on June 16, 1971, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, making him 48 years old as of 2019. Part of his formative years were spent in Patna. His horoscope sign is Gemini.

Imtiaz began his writing career at Crest Communications as a writer, providing television producers with scripts. He used to work at the computer for up to 17 hours a day in the past. He then went on to direct further Doordarshan programs like Imtehaan, Naina, and Kurukshetra. Then he wrote “Socha Na Tha” and approached Ali about adapting it when he learned Sunny Deol required a script to introduce his cousin Abhay Deol to the public. He worked on the project for a total of three years. Unfortunately, the movie did poorly at the box office.

His subsequent movie, “Jab We Met,” with Shahid and Kareena Kapoor, was a financial success. Following that, he was the director of popular films including “Love Aaj Kal” (2009) and “Rockstar” (2011).

“Highway” was a movie that Imtiaz directed in 2014. A lot of critics awarded the film high ratings. It was his first script, and it was written almost 20 years before the movie’s release. Ali restarted his directorial career in later films like “Tamasha” and “Jab Harry Met Sejal.” Along with writing and directing, he has experimented in acting.
