Imtiaz Ali Biography

Imtiaz Ali Education

He attended St. Michael’s High School in Patna and D.B.M.S. English School in Jamshedpur for his education. He enrolled in Hindu College at the University of Delhi after completing high school with the goal of obtaining a degree there.

Imtiaz Ali Early Life

Imtiaz Ali was born on June 16, 1971, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, making him 48 years old as of 2019. Part of his formative years were spent in Patna. His horoscope sign is Gemini.

Ali frequently tagged along with his father, who worked for the irrigation department of the Indian government and learned about the inner workings of the nation.
During his school year’s winter break, Imtiaz resided in the Krim Mansion in Jamshedpur with his aunt. He could watch movies whenever he wanted, for free, because his new house was connected to a theater. Because of his friendship with the projectionist, he was able to see the man while he changed film reels. Imtiaz was an underachieving student who left school in the ninth grade. However, his father pushed him adamantly to join the civil service. He did start his studies for the Civil Services, but his love of theatre and film led him to found the Hindu College Dramatic Association instead. After that, he relocated to Delhi to enrol in the filmmaking programme at the Xavier Institution of Communication. He then finished a course in marketing and advertising.

Imtiaz Ali was a member of the devout Muslim Ali family. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Mansoor Ali Sr., who worked for the irrigation department. His mother’s history is unknown. He is one of two brothers; the other is the filmmaker Arif Ali, and the other is Sajid Ali. Imtiaz’s daughter from his union with producer wife Preety Ali is Ida Ali. The two finally ended their relationship in 2012.

Imtiaz Ali Career

Imtiaz began his writing career at Crest Communications as a writer, providing television producers with scripts. He used to work at the computer for up to 17 hours a day in the past. He then went on to direct further Doordarshan programs like Imtehaan, Naina, and Kurukshetra. Then he wrote “Socha Na Tha” and approached Ali about adapting it when he learned Sunny Deol required a script to introduce his cousin Abhay Deol to the public. He worked on the project for a total of three years. Unfortunately, the movie did poorly at the box office.

His subsequent movie, “Jab We Met,” with Shahid and Kareena Kapoor, was a financial success. Following that, he was the director of popular films including “Love Aaj Kal” (2009) and “Rockstar” (2011).

“Highway” was a movie that Imtiaz directed in 2014. A lot of critics awarded the film high ratings. It was his first script, and it was written almost 20 years before the movie’s release. Ali restarted his directorial career in later films like “Tamasha” and “Jab Harry Met Sejal.” Along with writing and directing, he has experimented in acting. In the 2008 Mumbai bombings-inspired movie “Black Friday,” he played the part of “Yakub Memon.”
