Indrans Early Life

Indrans was born on March 16, 1956. He was born and raised in Kumarapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, and is the third of Palavila Kochuvelu and Gomathi’s seven children. He is the youngest of two brothers and four sisters, making up a total of six children.

Indrans went to work with his uncle, a tailor, because his family was having financial problems. After that, he began taking part in community theatre performances by joining artistic organisations. The first television role he ever had was Kaliveedu on Doordarshan. He and his brothers K. and K. Jayakumar opened a tailor shop called Indran’s Brothers Tailors in Thiruvananthapuram’s Kumarapuram neighbourhood.

On February 23, 1985, he and Santhakumari got married. Mahitha, a daughter, and Mahendran, a son, are their children.

Indrans Career

In 1981’s Choothattam, Indrans made his performing and design debuts. He played several supporting roles and worked with producer TMN Charley on costume design for a period of years. His introduction to the public came via his appearance as a marriage broker in the 1993 movie Meleparambil Anveedu. When Indrans received the starring part of CID Unnikrishnan B.A., BEd, he at last established himself in the field (1994). The 1990s film canon then saw him cast in a lot of comedic roles. Due to his lanky build, unconventional line delivery, and mannerisms, Indrans was a well-known comedian in Malayalam cinema at the time. Just a few of the movies in which he appeared are Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji, Manathe Kottaram, Vadhu Doctoranu, Aadyathe Kanmani, Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava, etc. He portrayed Uthaman, a beloved character in the cult movie Punjabi House from 1998. Indrans worked with actress Harishree Ashokan on many of his most lucrative motion pictures.

In the early 2000s, he also started acting in supporting roles. After that, he became well-known for playing a thief in the 2004 movie Kathavasheshan, which helped him establish himself as a character actor. In 2009’s Rahasya Police, the antagonist, Indrans, was identified at the film’s climax. He portrayed yet another villain in Pottas Bomb (2013). Indrans won a Special Mention from the Kerala State Film Award for his performance in Apothecary.

Indrans’ breakthrough performance as an actor was in the Manu-directed 2016 film Munroe Thuruth. Later, he appeared in several pivotal character roles in movies. He played darker characters in the movies Kaadu Pookunna Neram (2016) and God Say (2017). Indrans has starred in well-known parts in movies including Makkana, Lonam, Paathi, and Buddhanum Chaplinum Chirikkunnu. He won the Best Actor award at the 2018 Kerala State Film Award for the 2017 movie Aalorukkam. He received the Best Actor honour at the Singapore South Asian International Film Festival in 2019 for his performance in Veyilmarangal. Veyil Marangal won the Outstanding Artistic Achievement prize at the Shanghai International Film Festival in addition to the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. Indrans played the lead role in the movie Mohabbathin Kunjabdulla (2019). In the murder movie Anjaam Pathiraa, critics liked his brief cameo as the serial killer Ripper Ravi (2020).

He played Oliver Twist on the TV show At Home in 2022. Both viewers and critics gave the movie high marks, with many praising Indrans’ performance as a particular high point.
