K.V. Guhan made his acting and directing debut in the 2003 movie Kushi. He appeared in other movies after that, including Naani, Athadu, Aarya, Muni, and Jalsa. After that, he became the director of the movie Inidhu Inidhu. Only a handful of the movies he filmed after going back to cinematography include Dookudu, SVSC, Aagadu, Baadshah, Mister, and Jawan. K V Guhan worked for Bala Chander in the editing division for the first three to four years of his career. After that, he started working as well-known cinematographer P.C. Sree Ram’s assistant. His first movie, Kushi (Hindi Feature), came out in 2003. The same year, Mahesh Babu-starring Naani, his first Telugu film, was released. He finally had the opportunity to film in Tamil, his mother tongue, after waiting for a year. The movie had just been released for the first time. That was the start of a fruitful career for him.

He has mostly worked with Trivikram Srinivas, Mahesh Babu, and Prakash Raj throughout his career. Nine movies were created by K V Guhan and Prakash Raj together.
