Meghna Gulzar Career

Meghna began her career in the film business by assisting Saaed Mirza and Gulzar, her father, on the Maachis (1996) and Hu Tu Tu movies (1999). She then started directing music videos and documentaries for Doordarshan shortly after that.

The year 2002 saw the release of Meghna’s first movie, Filhaal. The film, which starred Sushmita Sena, Tabu, and Sanjay Suri, explored the idea of a surrogate mother. Her debut movie failed to find an audience and received poor reviews. The movie’s subject matter received praise, while its execution received criticism.

Her second film, Just Married (2007), received similar praise from critics as her first. Despite being a fresh issue, the film’s presentation of it received harsh criticism. The story followed a wedding couple as they struggled to accept their inherent differences. Fardeen Khan and Esha Deol portray the lead roles. Then, Meghna finally achieved the critical recognition she had been waiting for when she directed a scene called Pooranmaasi for the anthology movie Dus Kahaniyaan (2007). The short film, which examined the sexual inhibition suffered by a middle-aged lady, starred Amrita Singh and Minnisha Lamba.

The 2015 movie Talvar, which was motivated by the murder of Arushi Talvar, received a lot of positive reviews. Vishal Bharadwaj won the National Award for Best Screenplay for the movie that she directed, which was based on his screenplay. At the Filmfare Awards, the movie also won the best editing prize. Irrfan Khan, an actor Neeraj Kabi and Konkona Sen Sharma were the leads in the movie.

The hijacking of Flight IC 814 is the subject of the 2018 Meghna Gulzar film, which is based on the Neelesh Mishra novel. Chhapaak and the rest of her new music will be accessible in 2020.
