Movie Verdict

Bollywood is best known for spy films like Ek Tha Tiger, Raazi, Phantom, and many more and now Mission Majnu, however, what made this Mission Majnu made different from all the spy films is the tonality of it, the film deals with the deadliest mission with uttermost silence. The film has hardly 2 to 3 action blocks and the rest is intelligence. The first half has its moments that keep us invested in the story where how Amandeep Singh enters Pakistan and how he finds a job there and how manages not to get attracted to anyone and how silently gathers information about the nuclear bombs is what makes the first half watchable.

The second half also follows the same tempo but the love track breaks the flow of the film and the emotional angle of their relationship doesn’t land well. Despite the few flaws in the narrative, the latter half has spine-chilling moments, and the climax is also quite well. Overall, the film has all the elements which make you a thriller and a few twists will make you blown away for sure.

Siddharth Malhotra as Amandeep Singh does a phenomenal job and he showed his mettle in emotional scenes, Rashmika Manadanna as a visually impaired girl is good but she failed in many scenes which required performance, Kumud Mishra, Abhinay Raj Singh, Mir Sarwar, Sharib Hashmi, and others did their best.

Technically, Mission Majnu looks good, Bijitesh De’s cinematography is partly good and Tanishq Bagchi, Rochak Kohli, and Arko’s songs are not up to the mark but they have given brilliant background score which is the biggest plus point for the film rest of the technical team did well.

Shantanu Bagchi has done a decent job by presenting this spy thriller, though his story resembles Zee5’s spy drama Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy although Shantanu Bagchi presented it differently, though the film has flaws he succeeded in engaging the audience from the beginning to end.

Overall, Mission Majnu is a decent spy thriller to watch this weekend on Netflix.

Plus Points:

  • Screenplay
  • Mood
  • Background Score

Minus Points:

  • Predictable Scenes
  • VFX
  • Lacks the emotion

Rating: 3/5
