He attended St. Thomas’ High School in Dasnagar, Howrah, and St. Aloysius High School in Howrah until Class X. Pandey eventually made his home in New Delhi, where he graduated from Sri Aurobindo College with a bachelor’s in English.

Neeraj Pandey Early Life

In the Indian state of West Bengal, in the city of Howrah, Pandey spent his formative years. His father relocated the family to Calcutta while working for Bosch in Arrah, Bihar.

Neeraj Pandey Career

Pandey began his career at Delhi’s “Legacy Entertainment,” a division of The Dalmia Group.

He was given the opportunity to play a part in a documentary that was being funded by a friend after moving to Mumbai in the year 2000. Soon after, he started making newsreels and advertisements. After that, he co-founded “Quarter Inch Productions” with Shital Bhatia, a business that specialises in TV series, advertisements, and documentaries. A Wednesday!, his debut feature film, was made in 2008 by Friday Filmworks, a business owned by Neeraj and Shital Bhatia. The film’s plot was inspired by the Mumbai train explosions of July 11, 2006.

Taryanche Bait, a 2011 film, was produced by Pandey. His debut movie, Special 26, was released in 2008; Pandey’s second movie, Special 26, was released in 2013 and starring Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggrawal. Producer of Bengali movies and native speaker Neeraj speaks the language well. The Royal Bengal Tiger, his 2014 film, was entirely shot in Bengali. In the same year, he also produced the film Total Siyappa, starring Yami Gautam and Ali Zafar. He was the director of the Akshay Kumar-starring 2015 movie Baby. One of his 2016 productions was the comedy Saat Uchakkey, starring Manoj Bajpayee, Kay Kay Menon, and Aditi Sharma.

Anil Ambani, the billionaire industrialist who owns Reliance Entertainment, said in 2016 that they would be launching a movie production firm named Plan C studios with Pandey and Friday Filmworks. Akshay Kumar starred in the first movie the company made. You two have a 50/50 partnership in the business.

With the publication of Ghalib Danger on December 6, 2013, Pandey also made his literary debut. The novel’s cinematic adaptation is now being made. He co-produced the critically acclaimed movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, a humorous examination of the open defecation issue in India, in 2017. He also directed Ouch, a 2017 Filmfare Short Film Award contender that stars Manoj Bajpayee and Pooja Chopra.

His next film, Aiyaary, starring Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra, was a critical and financial failure, becoming his first flop as a director. Under the name Plan C Studios, he developed, directed, and made this action thriller that takes place near the Indian border. The two main characters were Jai Bakshi (played by Malhotra) and Abhay Singh (played by Bajpayee). Naseeruddin Shah and the filmmaker reconnected for another project after working together on A Wednesday! This movie followed suit with a number of his earlier ones that also dealt with a related subject; it was based on actual events.

Pandey debuted and directed his first online series, Special Ops, on Hotstar in March 2020. Reviewers praised the eight-part series, which marked Friday Storytellers’ (Friday Filmworks’ digital arm) premiere, calling it a triumph.

His current project is a feature-length movie with the working title Chanakya. In this position, he will collaborate with Ajay Devgn for the first time.
