Sreeram graduated from the Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School in the Mylapore district of Chennai. After that, he made the decision to enrol at the Madras Film Institute for a cinematography course.

Chennai, in Tamil Nadu, is the city where Sreeram was born. Sreeram became very interested in the film business when he was young. He received his education at Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School in Mylapore. He eventually enrolled in a cinematography program at the Madras Film Institute, motivated by his interest in photography.

P.C. Sreeram Career

P.C. Sreeram loved photography but hated doing his homework. But despite his love of movies, he was still able to perform well on his exams and graduate. He had a childhood dream of being a famous actor. He received a diploma in motion picture photography from the Madras Film Institute in 1979. He made his first public appearance in 1980. He began his career in 1981 with the movie Vaa Indha Pakkam. He had been working in the film business for about forty years by that point.

P.C.Sreeram and Mani Ratnam worked together on Mouna Ragam in 1986 for the first time. Both P.C. Sreeram and director Mani Ratnam were recognized for their contributions to this movie. They worked together once more on Nayagan in 1987. The movie Nayagan won three trophies at the 35th annual National Film Awards. P.C.Sreeram and his comrades C.Rudhraiya, Kamal Hasan, Radharavi, Bharathi, R.C.Sakthi, and others made comprised the Sanmac group. He filmed every Mani Ratnam movie up until 1989’s Geetanjali.

He received praise for incorporating cutting-edge camerawork into his movie Agni Natchathiram. His movie Agni Natchathiram received favorable reviews and did well at the box office. In 1995, Kurthipunal, his second movie as a director and a police drama influenced by the 1995 Hindi film Drohkaal, was released. This movie received an official nomination for an Academy Award in 1996. Eight years after its first release, this film had its world debut at the Rotterdam Film Festival as part of the “Director in Focus” category.

In 2004, he directed Vaanam Vasappadum, the country’s first movie to use high-definition digital technology. Movies can be viewed with more clarity thanks to HD digital technology, which produces videos with a higher standard and resolution than the industry norm.
He mentored individuals who went on to become well-known Indian cinematographers, including M.S. Prabhu, Jeeva, Ramji, K.V. Anand, Chezhiyan, Balasubramaniam, Tirru, Nirav Shah, Arvind Krishna, and K.V. Guhan.
