Pasupathy Early Life

Pasupathy Masilamani was born in 1969 in the Maduravoyal neighbourhood of Chennai, India’s northernmost city. He began working for the theatre group “Koothu-P-Pattarai” in 1984 and remained there until 1997. In actuality, he attended school and matured there before starting his acting career. He befriended actor Nassar while they were both attending the film school; Nassar later joined the Koothu-P-Pattarai.

Pasupathy Career

Nassar once asked him whether he was interested in seeing movies when he was at Marudhanayagam. Pasupathy was cast as Marudhanayagam’s antagonist after meeting Kamal Haasan. Pasupathy admitted, “That was the first time I was in front of the camera.” After Marudhanayagam was cancelled, he worked on Nasser’s Mayan, which served as his debut.

He had his breakthrough performance as Kothaala Thevar in Virumaandi. He began portraying villains later in his career in films like Dhool, Sullan, Madhurey, and Thirupaachi. He then ventured towards comedy with movies like Majaa and Mumbai Xpress. He had his first main role in Veyyil, which won the National Film Award. Additionally, he played the lead in the movies Kuselan and Raman Thediya Seethai, in which he played a blind radio DJ (in which he played a village barber). He worked out for six months to get into fighting shape for his role as Kombhoodhi, the village’s 18th-century warrior chief, in the period action film Aravaan.

For his portrayal of Annachi in the 2013 Tamil film Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara, he won praise. He had an appearance in The Last Vision, a self-produced English movie made by young filmmakers in Kerala especially for film festivals. In upcoming movies, Pasupathy will play a therukooththu artist in Rohini’s Appavin Meesai, a good guy in Sathya Prabhas Pinisetty’s Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka, the brother of actor Aadhi, in Thangam Saravanan’s Anjala, and a villain in Vetrimaran’s untitled film. In 2014, Pasupathy made his stage debut as Aditya Karikalan in the Ponniyin Selvan production.
