In recent years, the Telugu film industry has seen very few movies centered purely around the love genre. Amid this trend, a romantic drama titled “Patang” hit theaters in December 2025. Despite receiving positive word-of-mouth and decent critical reviews, the film went largely unnoticed at the box office due to multiple big releases arriving on the same day.
Featuring debutants in the lead roles, Patang impressed critics with its fresh narrative and emotional depth. However, the strong competition prevented the film from drawing audiences to cinemas. Now, the movie is set to get a second chance through its digital release.
The OTT streaming rights of Patang have been acquired by Sun Nxt, and the makers have officially announced that the film will premiere on January 30, 2026. This digital release is expected to help the film reach a wider audience and gain the recognition it missed during its theatrical run.
Patang stars Pranav Kaushik, Preethi Pagadala, and Vamsi Pujit in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes SP Charan, Gautam Vasudev Menon, Anu Hasan, and several others in key roles.
The film is written and directed by Praneeth Prattipati and produced by Vijay Sekhar Anne, Sampath Maka, and Suresh Reddy Kothinti. The music is composed by Jose Jimmy, while Shakthi Arvind handled the cinematography and Chanakya Reddy Toorupu served as the editor.
With its upcoming OTT release, Patang is expected to find appreciation among romance-movie lovers on digital platforms.
