Varma’s first film credits are as an assistant director on Raogaarillu and Collectorgari Abbai, both in Telugu. Only after meeting Nagarjuna on the set of a film and telling the actor about a sequence he had written did Varma get the chance to realise his goal of becoming a director. Their partnership resulted in Shiva, a film about the criminalization of student politics. He is renowned as a filmmaker for films such as Sarkar 3 (2017), Lakshmi’s NTR (2019), and Murder (2020). He directed the horror films 12 O’Clock and Deyyam in 2022. This year saw the release of both of his feature films, Konda and Ladki (2022). RGV has directed and produced a number of films, including Satya, Rangeela (1995), Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (2001), Naach (2004), Sarkar (2005), and Darna Zaroori Hai (2006). He is best recognised for his work on Ab Tak Chappan (2004) and Ek Hasina Thi (2004).
