He was born on January 26, 1968, to Raj Gopal Raju and Rajya Lakshmi Bhupatiraju in Jaggampeta, Andhra Pradesh, India. His parents worked as housewives and pharmacists, respectively. His younger brothers, the actors Bharath and Raghu, are the other two sons.
