Reema completed her education at Delhi Public School before moving to Mumbai’s Sophia College to earn a bachelor’s degree in English literature. She later transferred to Sophia Polytechnic, Cumballa Hill, where she is now pursuing a postgraduate diploma in social media communications.

Reema Kagti said in an interview that her father is a farmer and that her family is originally from the Assamese village of Borhapjan in the Tinsukia district. She also stated moving to Mumbai after completing high school in Delhi.

In her early years, she was constantly writing tales of mystery and adventure. She earned $25 when she sold her first story to Tinkle Magazine. Kagti skipped third grade to see Salaam Bombay at the theatre. Her determination to pursue a career in filmmaking was strengthened by the experience. Her entrepreneur grandpa also dabbled in producing and performing in Assamese movies. Her goal to become a film director initially caused shock and astonishment in her family members. He did support her after that though.

The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) rejected each of her three applications. She had to finish an internship in order to receive her degree in Social Communications Media. She made the decision to work with a filmmaking company as opposed to a TV production company to gain experience.

Director and screenwriter Reema Kagti has helmed a number of popular Bollywood movies, including Talaash (2007) and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. (2012). She began her career as an assistant director on legendary masterpieces like Dil Chahta Hai and Lagaan (both 2001). (2001). Reema has contributed significantly to Excel Entertainment’s films throughout the years because to her multiple collaborations with directors Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar. Lakshya (2004), a war drama, and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, a buddy road movie, are two examples (2011). With the historical sports drama Gold, which chronicled India’s first-ever Olympic gold medal, Reema made her third outing behind the camera in 2018. Gully Boy is one of her 2019 releases, along with Gold, which was co-produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani and featured an ensemble cast lead by Akshay Kumar.
