S. Shankar Education
Shankar was born on August 17, 1963, to Thanjavur Kallar’s parents Muthulakshmi and Shanmugam in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. Prior to entering the film industry, he earned a mechanical engineering diploma from Central Polytechnic College. Shankar and his group gave an impromptu drama performance, and the director S. A. Chandrasekhar hired him as a screenwriter after seeing it. After finishing college, Shankar found work as a quality control manager, but he felt that there was something missing from his life that could only be satisfied by engaging in artistic endeavors. He had always wanted to write and act, so he dove into the world of theatre to hone his craft.

Shankar was born on August 17, 1963, in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, to parents Muthulakshmi and Shanmugam of the Thanjavur Kallar Community. He graduated from Central Polytechnic College with a diploma in mechanical engineering prior to working in the film industry. After witnessing one of Shankar and his group’s impromptu drama performances, director S. A. Chandrasekhar hired him as a screenwriter.
After graduating from college, Shankar found employment as a quality control supervisor, but he felt a void in his life that could only be filled by engaging in creative pursuits. He plunged headfirst into the world of theatre to polish his craft because he had always wanted to write and act.
S. Shankar Career
Shankar served as a director’s assistant while he was a young man for individuals like Pavithran and S. A. Chandrasekhar. Jai Shiv Shankar, his directorial debut, was released in 1990 and was produced by legendary actor Rajesh Khanna. In 1993, he made his debut as a filmmaker with the Tamil film Gentleman. He made his acting debut in Hindi film with Nayak (2001), which starred Anil Kapoor. Indian (Tamil), Jeans, Shivaji, Robot (renamed Enthiran; at the time, the most costly Indian film), Nanban, I, etc. are just a few of the movies he has worked on.
After Enthiran’s box office triumph in 2010, Shankar started work on sci-fi 2.0. It has the highest budget of any Indian movie ever, coming in at 543 crores (about $76 million). After that, he started working on Indian2, the sequel to his Tamil film Indian and He is presently collaborating with Tollywood superstar Ram Charan on a project with the working title RC 15.
