She received her early education at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in New Delhi. She finished high school and received her diploma from Sophia College in Mumbai. Shahana, who has always had a strong focus on her career, decided to pursue an acting career at a very young age.

She enrolled in acting training and joined Jaimini Pathak’s theatre company after graduating. In the beginning of her career, she worked as a production assistant on the films Seagull and Arabian Nights. Shahana’s big screen debut came with the Naseeruddin Shah film Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota. She played the supporting role of Payal in this film. Following her performance, she was given a job opportunity by Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. and Ru Ba Ru.
With the 2008 film Rock On, she had her first commercial success. In this film, she played Arjun Rampal’s wife, for which she won the Filmfare, Lions Gold, Cineblitz, and Star Screen awards. She didn’t look back after Rock On. She went on to appear in a lot of movies, including Ra.One, Game, Break Ke Baad, and Tu Hai Mera Sunday.
