Shantanu attended the Springdale School in New Delhi for his education. He enrolled at the University of Delhi’s Deshbandhu College shortly after completing his formal education in order to pursue a Bachelor of Economics degree.

To the best of our knowledge, Shantanu Moitra was born on January 22, 1968, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He is as watery as his sign, Aquarius, so they say. Shantanu’s early years were spent in Kolkata and Delhi. In an interview, Shantanu talked about spending the summers with his pishi (aunt) in Lake Gardens, Kolkata. During the same conversation, Shantanu disclosed that he was raised in a musical family in Banaras (now Varanasi), and that his decision to become a professional musician was largely influenced by his upbringing in such a setting.

Shantanu Moitra Career

Earlier in his career, Shantanu Moitra wrote songs for albums like Ab ke Saawan and Mann ki Manjeere: an album of women’s aspirations, as well as albums by artists like Shubha Mudgal and Breakthrough. His first movie deal was for the 2002 Hindi film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. Finally, in 2005, his score for the Hindi movie Parineeta received widespread recognition. Shantanu went on to write the music for a number of Bollywood movies in the years that followed, including Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), 3 Idiots (2009), Rajneeti (2010), pk (2014), Pink (2016), and Gulabo Sitabo.

His foray into Bengali cinema was marked by the 2008 score he wrote for the movie Antaheen. He then went on to appear in a number of popular Bengali movies, such as Buno Haansh (2008), Paanch Adhyay (2012), and Aparajita Tumi (2011). He wrote the instrumental score for the 2013 Telugu movie Naa Bangaaru Talli. In the Telegu movie, his music received favorable reviews and won the National Film Awards for best music direction.
