Siddharth Roy Kapur Education
He attended the G.D. Somani Memorial School in Mumbai for his early education before going on to Sydenham College to earn his Bachelor of Commerce. He achieved academic success in school and became the Head Boy. During his time at the university, Siddharth served as the Dramatics Society’s president and the paper’s editor. He worked as a summer intern at Ronnie Screwvala’s UTV while still in college. After finishing his undergraduate studies, Kapur obtained a master’s degree in management studies from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai.

Siddharth Roy Kapur, the son of Kumud Roy Kapur, was born into a Hindu family on August 2, 1975, in Bombay, India. His mother, Salome Roy Kapur, was a dancer and former Miss India. His younger siblings actors Aditya Roy Kapur and Kunaal Roy Kapur are brothers (actor and director).
Siddharth’s union with his childhood friend Aarti Bajaj ended in divorce. He finally wed TV producer Kavita. However, the pair parted ways in 2011. Bollywood actress Vidya Balan and Siddharth tied the knot on December 14, 2012.
Siddharth Roy Kapur Career
Siddharth Roy Kapur began his career as a brand manager for the Procter & Gamble Company in Mumbai. He thus joined the department of long-term planning at Star TV. Then, in order to enrol in Star TV’s Newscorp Executive Development Program, he moved to Hong Kong. The game show phenomenon Kaun Banega Crorepati was then pushed by him in Mumbai, where he relocated. Later, he worked as a manager overseeing marketing for the network’s regional branches. In 2002, he went back to Hong Kong and was appointed Vice President right away.
He was the Vice President of Star TV at the time. At the company’s Hong Kong headquarters, Kapur was in charge of the Central Marketing & Creative Services division. He leaped at the chance to work for UTV when the job of Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications became available in 2005. While working at UTV, Siddharth handled the marketing teams for a number of movies, including “Rang De Basanti” and “Khosla Ka Ghosla.”
In January 2008, Kapur assumed the position of chief executive officer at UTV Motion Pictures. From concept to finished work, and from marketing to distribution and syndication, he controlled every step of the process. His list of successful blockbusters from the 2000s includes Taare Zameen Par, Jodhaa Akbar, Fashion, Paan Singh Tomar, Kai Po Che, The Lunchbox, and Chennai Express. In 2014, he was promoted to managing director of Disney India.
Siddharth left Disney in 2017 after a decade of service in order to create Roy Kapur Films, his own production company. “The Sky Is Pink” was his debut motion picture. He also served as the showrunner for “Yeh Ballet” on Netflix.
