Sreenivasan Biography

Sreenivasan Education

Sreenivasan graduated with honors from both Government High School, Kadirur, and Kuthuparamba Middle School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from PRNSS College in Mattanur. In 1977, Sreenivasan studied at the Tamil Nadu Film and Television Institute in Chennai.

Sreenivasan Life

Sreenivasan was born in the small town of Patyam, in the North Malabar region of the Indian state of Kerala, in the district of Kannur. Vineeth Sreenivasan, his eldest son, is a director, songwriter, playback vocalist, dubbing artist, and actor. His younger son, Dhyan Sreenivasan, made his acting debut in his older brother’s suspense film, Thira. Dhyan’s debut feature film as a director, Love Action Drama, was a romantic comedy starring Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara.

Sreenivasan Career

Sreenivasan made his acting debut in the 1977 P.A. Backer film Chuchumani after enrolling in an acting course at the Film Chamber Institute. A. Prabhakaran, the vice principal of the film school, mentored him and hired him for his movie Mela. He appeared in a few movies before writing the screenplay for Oodarathuammava Aalariyam in 1984.

Some of the most well-known movies in which he appeared as an actor or writer were Gandhinagar 2nd Street, Nadodikkattu, and its two sequels, Vadakku Nooki Yanthram and Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala and Chithram.

Sreenivasan’s films often highlight social issues in funny ways. His box office successes include movies like “Sandesham,” “Vellanakaludey Naadu,” and “Varavelpu.” His harsh and frequently humorous statements criticize everything from pulp publications to ineffective labor unions to police brutality.

Excellent characterization, clever (often deadpan) dialogue and self-deprecating humor are hallmarks of Sreenivasan films. The focus of his self-deprecating humor often centers on his undesirable physical characteristics; exchanges like this have grown commonplace in scenes with co-star Mohanlal.

Vadakku Nokki Yanthram and Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala, two of his best-known movies, are recognized for their subtle representations of human nature and their capacity to elicit introspection.

His comedies, such as “Aram + Aram = Kinnaram” and “Chitram,” were critical and economic successes that left spectators with enduring impressions. Only Sreenivasan, a South-Keralite speaker of literary Malayalam, is able to convey North-Keralite slang in literary Malayalam, particularly that of Tellicherry, which is frequently distinctive and occasionally “weird.”

He appeared as a guest on the well-known weekly loser’s program Valiya Lokavum Cheriya Sreeniyum on Kairali TV (translation: The Big World and the Little Sreeni). His son, Vineeth Sreenivasan, is a well-known Malayalam singer.
