Vijayakumar Early Life

When Vijayakumar was just a young child, he made his acting debut as Lord Muruga in the 1961 Tamil film Sri Valli.

Vijayakumar appeared in several Tamil movies throughout the final decade of the 1960s, including Mahaveera Bheeman (1962), Thaaye Unakkaga (1965), and Kandhan Karunai (1967). Vijayakumar played the role of Shankar, a collector, in the 1973 Kollywood film Ponnukku Thanga Manasu.

He played a drunken doctor in the 1974 Tamil film Samarpanam, which was released. In the same year, he played Tilak in the Tamil movie Aval Oru Thodar Kathai. In the Tamil movie Panayam from 1976, he played Captain Murali, an officer in the Indian Army. He played the small part of Sasi in the subsequent Kollywood film Oru Oodhappu Kan Simittugiradhu. Vijayakumar portrayed a man named Ravi Shankar in the 1976 Tamil film Mogam Muppadhu Varusham. He portrayed a character by the name of Kannan in the 1977 Kollywood movie Dheepam.

He then acted in three more Tamil movies, Unnai Suttrum Ulagam (as Sekar), Indru Pol Endrum Vaazhga (as Kumar), and Ilaya Thalaimurai (as Thalai), throughout the course of the next years (as Pandu). Vijayakumar played the lead in the 1978 Kollywood films Shankar Salim Simon and Aayiram Jenmangal. That year, he appeared in Sigappukkal Mookkuthi, Velum Mayilum Thunai, Azhage Unnai Aarathikkiren, and more Tamil films. Vijayakumar played an actor in the Tamil and Telugu movie Kaali from 1980. In the Tamil version of the movie, Vijaykumar played GK, whereas Chiranjeevi portrayed the role in the Telugu version.

In the 1981 Tamil movie Savaal, he played the role of Ranjith. He made his acting debut as Michael Johnny in the 1983 Tamil film Sattam. He then had a cameo in the Tamil movie Apoorva Sahodarigal. In the 1989 Kollywood film Paattukku Oru Thalaivan, he portrayed politician Marudhanayagam. In the same year, he made his acting debut in Geethanjali, playing the father of the film’s main character.
