Vikramaditya Motwane Biography

Vikramaditya Motwane Education

He completed his elementary education at Mumbai’s Jamnabai Narsee School. He chose not to enroll in college because he wanted to pursue writing and a career in film.

Vikramaditya Motwane Early Life

Vikramaditya Motwane was born in Mumbai on December 6th, 1976 (he would be 46 years old in 2022). Among his pals, he goes by the name Vikram. He lost both of his parents when he was ten years old. He was born to a Bengali mother and a Sindhi father. After the divorce, his mother found work with Shukla Das, a documentary filmmaker and his mother’s cousin, as a line producer.

When he was only 17 years old, his mother launched a talk show that she now hosts and produces. He used to assist her with the research for the programme. Shukla Das, his uncle, was the show’s director. When Sanjay Leela Bhansali was Shukla Das’s assistant at the time, he first met Bhansali. For three years, Vikram worked as a chat show assistant before joining Bhansali’s team as an assistant director.

Vikramaditya Motwane is rumoured to be from a Sindhi Hindu household. His father, Sunil Motwane, is the owner of an electronics manufacturing facility. His mother, Dipa De Motwane, was an executive producer and former TV anchor. He was married to Ishika Mohan in 2005. He fell in love with his classmate Ishika in the ninth grade. After dating for a year, they broke up, only to get back together and be together ever since. Their collective daughter is known as Akira.

Vikramaditya Motwane Career

Vikram has been involved with movies since he was a young child. He worked as his mother’s TV show’s assistant. He met Sanjay Leela Bhansali while working on the TV show’s set, and the director subsequently employed him as an assistant director (AD). He worked as an AD for 2.5 years, earning 2,500 INR each month. On well-known films like “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” (1999), “Devdas” (2003), and many others, he collaborated with Bhansali.

In the movie “Paanch,” directed by Anurag Kashyap, he was a choreographer (2003). He made his debut in the film industry when he authored the script for the 2007 movie “Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal.” He wrote the screenplay for “Udaan” in 2003, but didn’t find a producer until 2009, delaying the start of production. Anurag Kashyap only needed 42 days to complete production after he was finally persuaded to make his film in 2009. With Udaan from 2010, the “Cannes Film Festival” screened an Indian movie in its “Un Certain Regard” section for the first time in sixteen years.

Along with Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl, and Madhu Mantena, Vikram co-founded Phantom Films in 2011, a film production and distribution firm. The company is known as Director’s Company in the media. The organization’s status as a content-driven production company was also acknowledged. “Lootera,” directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, was Phantom Films’ first motion picture. It was Vikram’s first significant film with a complete production team. Phantom Films went on to make a number of hugely successful movies, including “Queen,” “Hasee Toh Phasee,” “NH10,” “Udta Punjab,” “Trapped,” “Super 30,” and many others. Queen, a 2014 film by Phantom Films, received a National Award.

A web series called “Ghoul,” starring Radhika Apte and Manav Kaul, was produced by Vikram and Anurag after their first Netflix Original series, “Sacred Games,” was a success. Rajkumar Rao is the star of Vikram’s 2016 film “Trapped,” which received high appreciation from critics and numerous awards. Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar, and Vikram have been hired by Amazon Prime to direct three original series that will have their global premieres on December 16. New directors have been announced for “Made in Heaven” (by Zoya Akhtar) and “Stardust” (by Motwane).

Co-founders of “Phantom Films,” Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, announced the studio’s closure in 2018. The production company he created, “Phantom Films,” was shut down as a result of the allegations of sexual harassment made against Vikas Bahl in 2018 during the “#MeToo India Movement.” The woman claims she complained to Anurag about the alleged harassment by Vikas in 2015, but he said nothing. Vikram explained his position on Twitter, along with the information that the business will be shutting down.

Netflix officially announced in September 2018 that Sacred Games would receive a second season. The show’s “Showrunner” and “Creative Mind” has been announced to be Vikramaditya Motwane, even though Anurag Kashyap will continue to serve as the project’s director. Neeraj Ghaywan replaced Vikram as the director for scenes starring Saif Ali Khan. The second season of “Sacred Games” debuted on August 15, 2019.
