Vivek Agnihotri pursued a Bachelor of Arts at the School of Social Science at Bhopal University. In addition, he studied here to obtain a Master of Planning (Economics) degree. Then Vivek Agnihotri enrolled at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi for a course in advertising. Later, he finished a course in organisation and management at Harvard University.

Vivek Agnihotri was born on a Friday, December 21, 1973, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. His parents are Sharda Agnihotri and Dr. Prabhu Dayal Agnihotri. Vivek Agnihotri wed Pallavi Joshi on June 28, 1997. Pallavi Joshi is a well-known television actress from India. A son named Manan and a daughter named Maalika are the couple’s two children.

Vivek Agnihotri Career

Shortly after finishing the advertising degree at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Vivek Agnihotri began working as a technical person at various well-known Indian organisations. Additionally, he held positions with J. Walter Thompson, Ogilvy & Mather, MacCann, Maggi, Nestle, and P&G advertising divisions. He later worked with Gillette and Coca-Cola on its Product Launch Team. Later, in Delhi, he founded his own advertising firm called Art Beat, which was right away named one of the top ten fastest-growing advertising firms in India by Business Today magazine.

Later, Vivek left his position in business and began writing scripts for India’s entertainment industry. He made Social Justice in India, an acclaimed documentary, as his first work. His own production firm, Vivek Agnihotri Creates, shortly debuted. Under the auspices of this production company, he created and directed various commercials for well-known businesses and institutions, such as Vicks, Godrej, P&G, Dainik Bhaskar, the Government of India, and the Blind Association of India. He later won the A&M Gold medal and the Ad Club Gold award for his creative AIDS ad film, demonstrating his dedication to the welfare of society.

Several well-known television shows, including Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum (2015), Rishtey (2002), Saturday Suspense (1997), X-Zone (1998), Anubandh, and Asambhav, have scripts written by Vivek Agnihotri (2004).

In 2005, Vivek Agnihotri directed the crime drama Chocolate. This film is a remake of the well-known Hollywood crime thriller from 1995. In 2007, the film Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, starring Vivek, was deemed a failure due to its subpar box office results. His 2014 film “Zid” underperformed at the box office as well. The 2014 film “Buddha In A Traffic Jam,” which was inspired by urban naxalism, was made public. Vivek Agnihotri reveals the relationships between the media, NGOs, terrorists, and academics in India in this film.

The movie’s release was delayed by five years as a result of the Left parties in India contesting it. Vivek Agnihotri endured a few violent attacks from his adversaries while travelling throughout India to gather information for this film. His latest effort, the 2017 short film “Muhammad & Urvashi,” was well received both domestically and abroad. In 2019, Vivek Agnihotri produced a film about the mysterious death of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second prime minister.

The film for which Vivek Agnihotri won the IFTDA Award from the Film & TV Directors Association was titled The Tashkent Files. Later, The Tashkent Files case study was added to the syllabi at the prestigious educational institutions IIM Ahmedabad and Mumbai University’s Media Studies. The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri in 2022, depicts the 1990 genocide of Kashmiri Pandits. A worldwide tour was undertaken by Vivek Agnihotri, his wife, and his daughter in order to gather and document the testimonies of the first-generation Kashmir genocide victims. The COVID-19 second lockdown in India forced the postponement of the movie’s August 2022 release date.
